Introduction
Acids and bases are known to human beings for centuries, as part of natural products, household and pharmaceutical ingredients.
They play vital roles in metabolic activity.
Many of them are of industrial importance, as in the production of fertilizers, pharmaceuticals and even explosives.
Vinegar(10% acetic acid), Vitaimin-C (Ascorbic acid), Lactic acid (present in sour milk, produced in our system due to muscular activity), Nicotinic acid (a vitamin), Salicylic acid from a tree(earlier used as an analgesic) citric acid from citrus fruits, tarataric acid are a few examples of acids from natural sources.
Vitamin-B1, B6, Niacin, the purine and pyrimidine bases of nucleic acids are a few examples of bases.
