Chromite

• Chromite is a mineral of chromium also contains some percentage of iron .
• Chemical Formula: FeCr₂O₄ It is a hard, metallic, black oxide mineral belonging to the spinel group.
• The two main products of chromite refining are ferrochromium and metallic chromium, for those products the ore smelter process differs considerably.

Uses Of Chromite

1. Chromium is an important metal and has a wide range of industrial uses.

2. Chromite is also used as a refractory material, because it has a high heat stability.

Cuprite

Cuprite is an oxide mineral composed of copper(I) oxide Cu₂O, and is a minor ore of copper.

Cuprite was first described in 1845.

Chemical Formula: Cu₂O, Copper Oxide.

Its dark crystals with red internal reflections are in the isometric system hexoctahedral class, appearing as cubic, octahedral, or dodecahedral forms, or in combinations.
